January Has Proven To Be A BIG Month!

We have had a lot of fun in January! Trevor has
been clapping, pointing, saying "hello" with anything that looks like a phone (or just his hand) up to his ear, AND walking! He retrieves his blankie like a little puppy when you ask him where it is and dances to any hip hop song on the top 20 countdown. We even had a visit from Nana all the way from Mexico. First Santa!

The lines for Santa at the Mall are way too long and the truth is kids Trevor and Sophie's age HATE sitting with Santa anyway. In the spirit of "Simplicity" parenting I decided that I didn't HAVE to have a screaming picture of Trevor's first visit to Santa. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't document Baby's First Christmas in the traditional way. On the contrary, it would be the end of my sanity to have to entertain Trevor while standing in line for something that he will ultimately hate. As you can plainly see, we DID get pictures with Trevor and Santa (Sophie too). Residence Life at SMU oversees the on campus day care center (which has a waiting list so it's not where Trevor goes) and our facilities manager Gregg dresses up like Santa for them. Gregg was nice enough to dress up like Santa in the office so that Ali and I could try to get some Holiday shots with our kids, without the hassle. When Santa is holding a dataphone and Trevor won't go to him....you know that there is something WRONG with Santa! Trevor finally got the Blackberry he always wanted and was happy, once again!

2 Girls and 7 reasons to move back to Arizona.....Pronto!

Our Thanksgiving sleep over with the Kuczaj's!
Samantha and Rachel (& Andrew, Bradley & Max's) parents let me love their children when I didn't have the hope of loving my own baby. I can honestly say that I love these kids as if they were my own. I just wish I still had the energy and time to devote to them that I did BEFORE I was Trevor's mommy too!

Feels Like Forever...Ago...

It didn't' occur to me that I might not be over the "Mommy" hormone roller coaster until I started to plan Trevor's first birthday party. John Mayer...Stop This Train...i want to get off and enjoy JUST THIS for just a bit longer. ILTRW

It's a Penguin Christmas!

We have been calling Trevor a Penguin since he was a few months old. He developed his kicking and "leg" skills right on time, he would kick away...all day long. But, he wouldn't use his hands, bat at toys or hold his bottle. I suspect it was a result of swaddling him for almost 6 months and laying him to sleep exclusively on his back. Slow hand coordination was a small price to pay for reduced SIDS risks!! Along came the Penguin reference (with a cute dance by Darren to illustrate his point) and the name stuck. It was a Penguin Christmas. He got this Penguin from Nanny, two Penguin ornaments, a Penguin from Grandma-ma. March Trevor....march!

The Sundance Kid's First Thanksgiving

This is as STILL as I could get him on Thanksgiving day. I feel like every picture of him is blurry lately...he is on the move...all the time!!

He also has a new nickname too! His blond hair reminds me of Robert Redford in Butch and Sundance...so adorable.

Even's and 5's....

I know that having OCD has made me both a good mom (always organized and prepared) and a terrible mom (stressed over nothing and exausted). But, I realized while driving to work today that being OC means that you are OC about EVERYTHING! Trevor loves to listen to the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Timberlake while chillin' in the back seat. He REALLY does....so, we crank it. But, the volume has to either be an even number or on the 5's. So...it can be at 10 or 12 or 14...but also 15. 18 is about as high as I think a baby should listen to and when he is not in the car it is 20, 22 or even 25! Call out the white coats...I really am a little nuts!

Swim Lessons

Trevor loves to splash and loves the water, even when it is dumped over his head so we are taking full advantage and getting him started early. Baby swim lessons at SMU every Tuesday night. It is all kinds of adorable.
Click here for a few more pics of swim lessons last night.

Graham Crackers

Trevor really loves his 2 first teeth. Anything that allows him to use them is his new favorite thing. I found him gnawing like a woodchuck on his crib rail...yes...wood stained slobber all over his shirt. That can't be good for him! He is also very reluctant to feed himself anything that is actually OK to go in his mouth. He puts lots of things in his mouth...it's just never food. Not Cheerios, puffs...anything. But, now we have found graham crackers and he LOVES biting off pieces. The sugar high that came after this revelation was sobering...but, hey...anything to get him to start feeding himself is good in my book. Luckily he finally started holding his own bottle so that I don't have to drive to work in the morning one handed....not safe!
